"Tho conditions controlling tho Contest ore as follows: Essays shall hot exceed 3000 words In length; $hall bo written in tho pupil's own handwriting on one stde only of white $apcr, and must be accompanied by a certificate of the pupil's teacher to tho effect that the essay Is tho un aided work of tho pupil. Essays must bo signed by tho writer with full postoffice address Including name of county, and mailed Mr. A. A. Llnds ley at 400 Henry Building. Portland. Oregon, and must be received not later than April 1, 1D1S. "Tho State Library has a special collection of books on the American Itevolutlon which have been provided by tho Oregon Society of the Sons of tho American Revolution and are avallablo for any school In Oregon frco of charge except for transporta tion to and from Salem. The grade libraries contain 20 volumes, and for tho high schools there ore 33 vol umes. They may be obtained by writing to Miss Cornelia Marvin, Stato Librarian, who takes an active interest In patriotic education and gladly will afford every possible facil ity to ambitious students."
