wife ot Dr. CoRhlan. 1S5 North 35th
Btroot, following an attack ot acute
ailment ot the lungs only a few min
utes before
Mr. Ouirln camo to Seattle from
Columbus, Ohio, In 1S99, whero ho
had beert president and actively Iden
tified with tho Columbus, Sandusky
& Hocking Valley Railroad company
for many years. Thero ho became
Interested In the Seattle, San Fran
cisco Railroad & Navigation company.
Tho central Oregon country attracted
his attention, and he accepted the
presidency of the Deschutes Irriga
tion & Power company, and bcramo
an Important factor In the upbuild
, ing ot Bend and the development ot
Central Oregon, attracting invest
ments ot capital and the interest ot
cnpnblo men ot known ability and
enterprise.
In 1913, Mr, Querin retired from
active affairs, and thereafter resided
with his daughter in this city. Mr.
Querin was born in 184? in Mich
igan, and was active in business af
fairs and railroad financiering and
management early in his career.
Funeral services at the residence
In this city will be held on Friday
afternoon, and tho body will bo taken
to Columbus, Ohio, for Interment.
Ills daughter will accompany the
body.
Mr. Querin Is survived by tho fol
lowing children: Mrs. J. M. Cogh
Ian, of Portland; W. E. Querin, or
Clovoland; R. F. Gucrln, Seattle; Dr.
J. T. Querin, Seattle. Henry F.
Querin, of Columbus, Is a brother.

recently as December, 1916, and had
spent a part ot tho winter at Alfalfa.
Coming hero with his son, W. E.
Querin, Jr., in 1904, he was associat
ed with him in tho Deschutes Irriga
tion Power Co., a forerunner of the
C. O. I. Cou be.Ing vico president ot
that corporation, and was also in
terested in the telephone, bank and
ranch properties.

elub was requested to keep a list ot
bad place's noted In the city streets,
and to report them In writing to the
secretary. At the next meeting
measures will be taken to see to It
that these defects are remedied.
