Bond patriots gathered at the do
lot to glvo tho recruits a rousing
sendoff. and patriotic demonstrations
were staged by tho Masons and tho
Aloose lodgo in honor of Bruce De
yarmond, of the formor order, and
Roy Mcnasco, of the latter. Mr.
Beyarmond is the first member of
the local Masonic fraternity to enter
Uncle Sam's military or naval ser
vles, and his last meeting with the
lodge was turned Into a patriotic
jublloo.

Construction of the third and prob
ably final unit of tho city plant of
tho Bond Water, Light & Power Co.
will begin at onco, according to an
announcement miulo by Manager T.
H. Foley this morning. Mr. Foley's
statement followed tho receipt of n
telegram from K. B. Mlllor, of Chi
cago, stockholder In tho company,
and Its export electrical cnglncor, to
tho'effoct that necessary machinery
had been contracted, and directing
that concrete work for tho addition
be begun at onco.
Tho now unit will connect with tho
presont building, occupying space toft
for growth when tho present plant
wob built In 1912 and will mark the
building's completion. It will bo
about 35x40 feet In slzo, making the
wholo building about 100x40.
The machinery ordorcd for tho
new unit Includes a COO horso power
water wheel nnd n GOO kilowatt gen
erator, adding over 50 per cent to
the capacity of tho plant, which now
operates two BOO kilowatt genera
tors. 10,000 to Bo Cost.
Building and machinery will cost
around $30,000. Concrete work Is
to bo begun at onco and It Is ex
pected that tho building will be ready
for occupancy and the machinery In
stalled In about five months.
Other work In which the company
Is engaged at present Includes tho
laying of n 1400 lino of eight
Inch pipe to connect the west sldo
reservoir with tho pipe line In Boule
vard addition for the purpose of pre
venting tho water shortage on the
west side, which has occurred In past
seasons.

Involving tho determination nf a
policy of genoral school development,
votors In tho Bend district will cast
their ballots on April 26, deciding
whether or not the district shall bond
Itself for $20,000 for the purchaga
of building sites and the construc
tion of schools In the city. Notices
of the oleetion are now being pre
pared, and it Is probable that the vot
ing will tako place In the council
chambers of the O'Kano building.
The sotting of the election was
made possible by tho filing of a pe
tition asking for the bond Issuo, spec
ifying that the money should be usnd
for the construction of an additional
unit to the now high school build
ing, the erection of a grace school
unit, tho purchaso of two lots in
North Addition adjacont to bloo): ,
already owned by the district, and
the purchase of a school site in Boul
evard addition.
More than 20 taxpayers signed the
petition.

Mr. Coo Invited Mr. Burbank to bo
