tions of tho city, to consider prop
osition for enlarging tho present In
stitutions, and providing a new homo
tor it.
It was ascertained that a part of
tho I'rlngle building, as now plan
ned to bo orectod on tho corner of
Wall and Oregon streets this spring,
can probably bo scoured as headquar
ters for tho Institution, affording
moro room than that now available).
The matter of support for tho libra
ry Is to bo taken up with tho county
eourt on March 7, and with tho city
council on somo data beforo that
tlmo.
It Is Intended later to havo tho In
stitution headquarters for a traveling
llbarry, which will tako caro of
branches throughout tho county,
modeled alone tho general lines of
tho Hood Itlvcr library.

aftomoou, advocating school consol
idation, and Bhowlng how, by tho ubo
of autos as transportation for coun
try pupils, tho union high school
which ho had In chargo In tho Im
perial Valley, was ablo to offer a
bettor courso of study, at lower cost,
to moro pupils, than under tho old
system. lie declared that by tho in
troduction of tho auto, tho union
high could bo made to servo effect
