Though ninny organizations have
been started in Noithern Lake coun
ty during lUo pust few yci rs, tho moat
needed one was not organized until
last Saturday afternoon when the
Northern Lake County Commercial
Club was started. Since the neighbor
ing communities ae v.ithout such n
club and, line hurt Hock, are too
small to cuccessfully run one of their
ov:ii, it Wi's decided to combine all
these districts under one commercial
club and for this reason has been
named the Northern Lake County

This action was ordered by the coun

and it Is the plan of tho councllmen
to keep this work oa the move until
tho road Is completed. Altho 'gh there
has been a number of vexing delays

yet with tho bonding house, the point
has been reached where the council
feels Bafo In starting the work. Coun

Jupiter Pluvlus Is loafing again.
For -IS days and 45 nights has he
been off the Job.
Autcists are longing for a little
moisture. Farmers need It for their
fall sowing. Tho roads are badlv eut
up In places. Housewives nre com
plaining of the plenitude of dust.
Jupe has been on a vacation In this
neck of the woods since September
J. He sprinkled a little In this lo
cality for a few minutes on Septem
ber 2 and 4 to the extent of .37
Inches, but since then ho has been
neglecting his principal duty. This
veneraisb gentleman has been known
to slough on the Job about this time
of the year before, but tho interim
between sprinkles has not been so
long, at least, according to the
records of tho locul weather office.
In 1911 for September and October
he wnB wide awake and poured down
1.8C Inches. These same months he
went for two stretches of 13 and 14
days without moistening tho terra
ll'H)sts for Madras.
Madras Is the oldest, the largest
and tho best town In Jeffernon county.
Tho business men of Madras nre
wide-awake, up-to-date, accommoda
ting men; they stood by tho prople of
this county during tho short crops
and hard times, and tided them over.
And, Indeed, there nro few, if any
that wero over refused an accommo
dation by tho Madras buslnesc men.
Further, Madras has Initiated nearly
every move for tho advancement of
this country, nnd backed It up with
tlmo nnd money. And again, Madras
Is the logical town for county scat
by location, being nearly In the geo
graphic renter nf population than any
other placo mentioned. Madrus Pi
