ter, who has been a member of tho
board for tho past threo years. Mr.
Davis succeeds H, J. Overturf, clerk
of tho District 12 board slnco 1912.
Although neither candidate wns
opposed by any other nominee, 5Ir.
Overturf declining a nomination for
ro-electlon, Gcorgo S. Young's namo
was written In for clerk by a number
of voters. Tho final vote stood: Da
vis 2G, Young 17. Mr. Koyca re
ceived 45 votes. In all 48 ballots
wero cast, or moro than a third less
than In last year's election.
Tho mooting was called for 10 o'
clock and at that hour 18 votors were
present, but no member of tho school
board. At 10:21, after being tele
phoned for, Director Smith and Clerk
Overturf appeared. Tho mooting was
called to order soon aftor and at
11:31 Director Larson camo In. Di
rector Hunter did not attend tho
meeting.
In addition to tho oloctlon of of
ficers tho meeting heard a summary
of tho financial report for tho year
and engaged In a wandering discus
sion of school sites and buildings.
This was started by a statement by
Jlr. Smith as to building sites option
ed by tho board.
These include a block in Wles-
torla owned by L. D. Wlest, tho re
mainder of tho block on which tho
high, school building stands, owned
by Tho Hend Co., and others, tho
water tower block and a block near
the Tumalo bridge In Park addition,
owned by The Hend Co. No property
has been optioned on the west side of
tho river.
Of tho now ofilclnls, Mr. Koyca Is
general manager of tho Hrooka-Scniv
Ion Lumber Co., and formerly see
rotary of The Hend Co. Jlr. Davis
Is in tho Insurances business.
