The first castings, made yesterjlay afternoon, were grate bars for the Hrooks-Scnnlou Lumber Co. AS at present arranged the foun dry plant consists of w pattern shop 20x30 feet lu olzo and tho main foun dry building. 3Sx33 Tho equipment consists of baud saw, lathe nud em ery wheel In the former building, and cupola nml casting boxes In the lat ter. Mr. HulTschmldt Is lu charge of tho pattern shop and Mr. Dugnn, the foundry. Assisting them at present Is Mr. Dtigans rattier, u. J. uugiin, of Portland, who Is employed at the Peninsula Iron Woiks there. Mr. Dugnn, Sr.. Is an experienced cupola tender nud has built the cupola at the local plant. Two others are employed at tho foundry. Including E. J. Gaynor. who has coma up from Portland with Messrs. Huffschmldt and Dugnn. Tho new enterprise Is starting out auspiciously, hnvlng orders already booked which will Ucep It busy for two pionths. Among these Is ono from Portland which was received In competition with Portland foundries.
