having extended tho Stato's contract
for list C to Fobrurry 23, 1918 and

may extend tho Company's tlmo of
completion to theso dates .
Tho extensions woro grnntcd to
tho stato as follows: on list G on
Ostobor 13, 1913; on list 19 on Oc
tober 18, ioic.
Segregation List C was granted and
contract olgncd between tho Federal
Government and the State In 1903.
This contract, by law. was limited
to 10 years, with the provision that
the Secretary of the Interior, could
at his discretion, grant n further ox-!
tension of 5 ears. In 1913 tho Stato'
requested this extension and It was!
granted till 1918 to complete the rec
lamation or the lands.
Segregation List 19 wns contracted
for between the Fodoral Government
and the State In 1905 nnd thls'yoar,
(1915) the Secretary of tho Intorlor
granted, at tho Stato's request, the
statutory extension of 5 years, mak
ing It 1920 for the termination of
this contract.
Juno 1", 1907, tho famous contract
between tho State and the Docchutes
Irrigation and Power Company, was1
signed, which provided for tho recla
mation of tho lands In both lists G
and 19. This contract subsequently
acquired by the Central Oregon IrrI
Ration Company nftor many exten
sions of time, expired on October 17,'
this year (1915.) Tho contract for,
tho reclamation of some 93,000 acres
of land.
Tho most notablo construction
work under this contract has been
the 5G Inch wood stnvo plpo syphon
over tho Dry river bed In tho Powoll
Ilutto district and tho North canal
dam and canal diverting about 1 mile
north of Dend.
Thero inmnlns yet to bo reclaimed
under this contract, bo mo 34,000
acres under the North Cannl Unit nnd
some S000 acres now under tho Con-i
tral Oregon Canal, but which It Ib!
planned to eventually Irrlgnto by n
Bpur from tho North Canal.
Protests against tho further oxten
slon of tlmo to tho C. O. I. Co. have
been frnmed by tho Water Users As-j
soclatlon and will undoubtedly bo
presented whenever tho company ap
pears boforo tho Desert Land Hoard
to ask for further tlmo.
A meotlng was hold by tho water
users at tho Graugo Hall on Monday
to consldor this question and tho
matter of tho Laurgaard proposals
for tho settlement of tho company's
dimcultlcs.
