ing the opening of a now ontranco to
the park which materially shortens
the distance between Bend and Crater
Lake. Local tourlstB who have boon
over the new road report that It
turns off on tho right hand sldo about
eight miles beyond Sand Creek and
that It Is In good condition nil tho
way In to tno isko.
jlr. Steel's letter Is as follows:
"Your attention Is kindly called to
the fact that a new entrance to tho
Crater Lako National Park has Just
been opened to the public, to be
known as tho Pinnacles Entrance. It
Is located about 3 miles north of
the BOiith oastern corner of tho park
and Is reached by turning directly to
the right, nt a point S3 miles south
of Crescent, nt which placo a Blgn Is
located. Parties from North Central
Oregon can save about 20 miles to
Rogue river points by taking this
route. '
