In 1907 It Is shown thnt thoro was
no Indebtedness. On January 1 of
this year tho outstanding dobt was
$170,000. In five years tho mlllago
hna Increased from 14.3 to 24, or
about 68 per cent. In that tltno the
valuation has Increased 60 per cent,
and tho total tnx Income 203 per
cent. According to general Informa
tion, population has about doubled
In this period.
In considering tho present tax
rate, strangers should bear In mind
that tho assessment Is upon n CO per
cent, and less, valuation basis.
County Judgo Springer has prom

the present condition of county fi
nances. A former official "report,"
It will1 bo remembered, was published
In The Bulletin, but gave no Infor
mation at all. Just now, it Is under
stood, tho expert who was imported
for the work, Is compiling the figures
at his homo In the Wlllametto valley.
Tho Bulletin hopes to Ixs able to
publish in an early issue figures sim
ilar to thoso below, pertaining to
Klamath and Harney counties, so
that the progress of Crook compared
with its neighbors may bo of record.
