The Bend Company was tho host of the little dinner that was served tho Im migrants at the Pilot Butt'o Inn din ing room, attended by tho doxen Swedes In tho Paisley party and about a doxen Bend business and real estate men. It was something now for one town to give such a send-off to a party of investors bound for another commu nity, and tho stand Bend took In the matter and the hearty welcome ex tended him and his people was vast ly appreciated by Mr. Bailey as well as by the farmers who soon are to become Central Orcgonlans. "Wo simply wanted to show Mr. Bailey and his people that Bend re alizes fully what la good for one sec tion Is good for all parts ot Central Oregon." said D. E. Hunter ot The Bend Company, chief sponsor ot the evening. "Little get-together meet inga of this kind ere the best sort ot thing for the town and all our neigh boring communities. It's also good for us real estate men to go on record as wo did. showing our friendly feel ing for other districts. What we want is to have newcomers feel that Bend is glad to welcome them, re gardless of whether or not they stay ' here or invest hero. Then they will like Bend, and will say a good word for It." With J. E. Sawhill presiding, sev eral informal talks were given and much singing perpetrated, to tho evident enjoyment of the guestfl. Mr. Bailey made a most excellent speech, in which ho showed his great appreciation of the welcome extended him. With tho sun shining again tho first ot the week, there Is practically no snow left on tho ground here.
