Having caught the spirit of low
cost brick homes nt tho last Clay
Products KxKjsltlon, a Chicago con
tractor Is putting iir 2C or this typo
or residence. Tho houses nro 40
feet long and 21 root wide, having
sewn rooms each. . In addition to a
estlbula, bath and pantry, flvo of
theso rooms nro on tho first floor.
Tluso brick homes nro a story and a
half high and have commodious
, porches acros tho entire front and
back. Thoy nro strictly modern
throughout and nro faced with ex
cellent raco brick. Tho front ver
anda columns are made of fuco brick
with a single span across tho entire
width of tho house. As a proof tha
this typo ot homo oan bo built at
moderato cost, attention Is called to
tho fact that even In Chicago whoro
the cost or building oporntlons Is high
these houses woro built on contract
at a cost or I2S00 each. Figures on
I tho same house In other parts or the
country run as low as (1800. Theso
houses wore by no moans flimsy In
their construction. Thoy have hard
wood finish, completely equipped

Host or all this typo or house Is Are
proof, and wilt help to reduce tho
cnormus annual loss or 450 million
i dollars In the United States. Theso
I modest brick homes mean less Insur

rats nnd vermin, fewer repair hills,
less paint. A proporty of this kind
has a permanent value, Increasing
every year as values In tho neighbor

would become less attractive, mora
