RIVERSIDE
ADDITION
must and will facome the "factory district" of Bend.
Already it is the most practicable mm) de&kooie, owing to
its advantages which ore necessary to factories of any kind.
Some of these advantages lie in the fnct that Riverside
is cut in two by the Railroad, making a great number of lots
running; along the Railroad right of way; while any of the
others can be readied easily and cheaply by short spurs from
the main line, thus enabling one to load or unload directly
from his own platform into the car. Then n great number of
lots lie right on the bank of the Deschutes River, which ad
vantage is too obvious to recount; but the greatest advan
tage of all lies in the fact that to any of these lots we can
deliver the cheapest power in Bend, for they average but
three ordinary city blocks, or 1800 feet from Bend's largest
power plant now building, the dam alone to cost $150,000,
which will be ready to deliver power this winter; and the
farthest lot from power is only three city blocks, 1800 feet
from the Union Depot.

VACATIONS Will KAitMKHH.
(O. A. C. News Utter.)
Farmers should so arrange their
work as to take an outing each year.
They will bo benefitted by gettlug
out once a year from the routine of
the work on the farm which will not
suffer If It be properly planned.
Relattvo to this subject an eastern
paper says:
"Most farmers are believers in the
1 eight-hour system eight hours be
fore noon and eight hours afterl It
J may be a good system when one Is
bis own boss, but Its rather bard on
all concerned. Therefore, every
farmer should have a sort of pitch
forjc arrangement which will throw
everyone, himself and his wife In
cluded, off tho farm at some con
venient time to lako a compulsory
vacation. Never fear that the work
will suffer. It will not If it Is
properly planned. Never fear that
anyone who thus has an outing suf
fers. On tho contrary, everyone,
and the work, too, will tie bene
fitted." McMlnnvllle News-Reporter.

Before You Let the Contract
for Hint new building, consider these
facts about brick.
In building with oil other material no
allowance is made for doors, windows and
other openings.
With brick you can make an allowence
ot 10 to 25 percent.
With lumber 15 to 25 percent is added
for sizing, laps, etc. VVith brick it is
unnecessary,
With all other material 5 to 10 per
cent added for waste, such as cutting,
fitting, knots, shakes, etc' With brick
there is absolutely no waste.
When a building is finished, built with,
any other material, there is always a lot's .
of waste to haul away.
With brick, if you have any left we
will take them off your hands at the full
? price you paid for them.
There is a hundred other reasons why
you should build with brjek.
