Last week a contract was signed here for tho erection of a substantial three-story brick hotol to bo built at Deschutes, eight miles north of Uoud. The Deschutes Townslte Company Is putting up tho building, work upon which will start as soon as It Is possible to get workmen and mater ial on tho ground. Tnnsey & Kurrlc, tho Bend con tractors, hare received tho contract for all tho brick work, and the brick will be purchased from tho Ucnd Hrlck & Lumber Company, and ship ped from hero by railroad. About 150.000 brick will be-uscd, the build ers estimate. Tho building Is Jo bo 32 by 65 feet, and In addition to hotel quarters on the first floor will aloo contain a store room. Construction of PnrWi Hall Will be Started Soon. Work on n parish hall, to bo used by tho Episcopate tor sootal, Intel lectual and religious purposes, will be started In a short time, Is tho announcement made by itov, O. F. Jones, missionary for Kastorn Ore gon, who preached twice at tho Methodist church Sunday. The hall will bo erected on tho church lot at Wall Street and St. Melons drive. It will bo a frame edifice, 70 by 30 feet In also.
