Htate Make Trip to Land.
Central Oregon has been chosen by
' the Hebrew Agricultural Association
of Oregon, with headquarter at Port
land, as the field for localfng a
colony. ThU decision was reached
after a thorough search had been
made of the Pacific Northwest States.
Some time ago several ot the men
interested made a trip through the
homestead country about CO miles
from Bend, but It was found that it
was not suitable. The president and
secretary of the association, A.
Zldell and David N. Mosessobn, then
took the matter up with K. It. Post
and O. C. Henkle, putting them In
fujl charge to selWt land enough on
which to locate a colony of their pro
portions An extended trip through
Crook, Lake and Harney counties was
made by them in company with four
representatives of the association.
After the return from the trip, the
locators were notified to got every-
thing in readiness for settlement of
the land.
Messrs, Post and Henkle made a
careful survey of the lands, bringing
back samples of the soil and Its pro
ducts and many pictures. Monday
afternoon they left with 13 people,
making the first actual settlement of
the lands. t
Tho association that Is back of the
colony was organized In Portland
July 1. Its objoct is to encourage
agriculture among tho Jews by means
or loans. without interest and other
asslatanco. Many or tho most promi
nent Jews or the Oregon metropolis
have jbecome jnenipers and are sup
' porting 'it wjth time and money.' .

George W. Trlplett Take Advantage
of Three-Year Privilege.

stead proof before Commissioner
KIIIb, under tho recently enacted
three-year law, was George W. Trlp
lett, who appeared with his witnesses
Saturday.
Mr, Trlplett hqs lived on his claim
up river more than three years, hav
ing Died on It February 8, 1909.
During this period he bos remained
on the land probably closer than any

He was alone except for his dog. Mr.
Trlplott Is a native or North Carolina,
having came west a number or years
ago. He fought In tho Civil War on
the Southern sldo and Is getting well
along In years. He expects to spend
tho winter In Ilond. Mr. Trlplett Is
tho rather of Millard, Tom, Carlyle
and Creed Trlplett, who formerly
lived here.

allowance is made for doors, windows and
other openings.
With brick you can make an allowence
of 10 to 25 percent.
With lumber 15 to 25 percent is added
for sizing, laps, etc. With brick it is

cent added for waste, such as cutting,
fitting, knots, shakes, etc. With brick
