Plans for the big Seattle-Portland
xcurslon to Bend are maturing ex
eellontly well, according to advices
received from the Sound City. Not
less than 75 business men and their
wives will arrive on the afternoon of
Sunday, September 1. and probably
:onslderabiy In excess of that num
ber will take advantage of the special
ipportunlty to get a glimso of Bend
unl Central Oregon.

ohodule of the "Bonct Speolal" shows
that It will leave Seattle at 11 p. m. j
on Saturday, August 31, leaving!
Portland G45 a. m. Sunday, and1
arrives at Bend at 4:30 p. m. The
return train leaves Bend at 10 p. m.
Monday, resches Portland 7:30 the
following morning, and at 2:30 p. m.
arrives at Seattle. As Monday Is
l.abor Day, visitors from tho two
cities will lose but half or one work
ing day, Tuesday, while they havo a
full day here, and practically half of
Sunday.
The rates for the entire trip are
$25 00 from Seattle and 117.50 from
Portland, including berths and all
meals. Over and above this amount
the travelers "will not be allowed to

view of tho adjacent territory Is ob
tainable, and, probably, a picnic
luncheon on top of the butto, which
wilt bo one of the most unique
"feeds," at least as regards location,
that Oregon tins ever seen. The big;
feature of the Junket will tie a ban
quet on Monday evening, plans for
which aro now being made. It Is
probable that In the neighborhood of
150 people will participate.
