Irrlng has returned to her home at
Newberg, after a visit with the Misses
Barber,, at their home near La Pine.
Mrs. D. C. Peterson has returned
from the Hose Festival at Portland,
where sho spent a week. She was
accompanied by her daughter. Mrs.
A. J. Jamleson, of Miller, S. D., who
will visit at La Pine for a month or
two. Mrs. Jamleson attended the
Rose Festival with per mother.
At tho annual school election in
tho La Pino district No. 43. W. H.
Holllnshead was elected director and
J. L. IJenson clerk. A four-mill tax
was also voted. At this meeting .a
Tund of $S0 was also voted for start
ing a special library in the schools
of tho district for the um of the
pupils In addition to their regular
text books, the movement being
fathered by J. O. Kedmond and Al
fred A. Aya.
W. It. Riley is preparing plans for
a two-story hotel which he will erect
Immediately on the site of his old
place, destroyed by fire recently.
The new building will be 26 by 70
Tcet and on the corner, and will bo
devoted exclusively to the hotol busi
ness.
The Deschutes Land Company,
which la constructing tho irrigation
system for the Carey act project
around La Pino, la preparing to re
sume operations on the system by the
first of July.
The La Pine Commercial Club
building Is progressing rapidly and
will likely be far enough advanced
by tho Kourth to permit of a dance
being held there In connection with
the old-fashioned picnic to bo hold
at La Pine on that day.
