Seattle, Washington, December 6, 1911. TO THE PUBLISHER OF THE BEND BULLETIN Bend, Oregon. My Dear Sir: You will probably be interested in knowing how Bend Park is doing here and as this is a matter that interests the public as well, we shall ask you to print this in the form of an advertisement: The Manager and Sales Alanager of this Company went into Bend on the first train that ran in on November 1st. So thoroughly were they impressed with the present and the future of your city that on their re turn to Seattle, an aggressive campaign was entered into with a view of acquainting the public generally with the true situation. In a month's time over 150 lots have been disposed of and many substantial investors have become interested in Bend's future, A number of the purchasers are planning to move to Bend and engage in activities there. We know that Bend offers today the surest Investment for the pub lic's money. We expect to be instrumental in sending many substantial people to Bend in the near future and know that Bend's interests and ours are identical and in helping one we help the other. Publicity is a splendid thing and in this connection we would sug gest that hereafter you run a real estate column each week and report all the sales that have taken place, also have interviews with your local real estate people. Your paper would then keep outsiders who have In vested in touch with local conditions. This is a matter in which the en tire public is interested. SALEM Tho Btate and tho Northwest Townslte Co. of Philadel phia have agreed upon the details of the contract under which the com pany Is to undertake reclamation of tho Paisley project In Lake county under the Carey act. When the company received the now draft of tho contract sont it by tho Desert Land Doard, It wired the board that all waa satisfactory except the clause forbidding the company to sell water to anyone outside tho project without a permit from tho board. The company plins a reservoir with storage capacity ,for 30,000 acres, but the project embraces but 12,000 acres. The board recognized tho reasonableness of the objection and decided to allow tho company to sell water to settlers outside tho project providing they give the settlers on thejprpject prior rights at all times.
