Cliriss Woods Charged With
Th.ft of Windows.
Upon information that thieves
had stolen several windows from the
houfie on his ranch (the old Pengra
place, 28 miles south of Bend) J. M.
Lawrence last Wednesday obtained
a John Doe warrant from Justice
Orcutt and placed it in the hands of
Constable W. C. Hollinshead of La
I'ine, for service. Tho constable
located the missing property in the
wagon of Chris3 Woods who was
arrested. Mr. Lawrence went up
Thursday and brought down the
officer, his prisoner and a witness,
but no witness was necessary as
Woods admitted his guilt, waived
examination and was held to the
jrrand jury on bond of $1000. C.
II. Frickfion and J. I. West signed
the bond. vThe legal penalty for
this offense is a penitentiary term
between one and secn years.
