Mrs. Ada Wallace Un rub, prosi-j
dent of tho Oregon W. C. T. U..
who was in Mend Sunday, was hoard
by a large audience at each service.
She spoke morning and evening to
the general public, at tho Baptist
church, and In tho afternoon ad
d reel the women. i
A woman of strong personality '
and thoroughly enthusiastic in the
cause she represents, she interested
nil who heard her talks. She
showed herself a forceful speaker,
holding her auditors with marked
attention. She enlivens her ad
dresses with both humor and pathos,
and at no time do words fail her.
Sunday night she spoke for nearly '
an hour and a half, holding the at
tention of the congregation us few '
other speakers could have done. '
Not only does Mrs. Unruh, on i
her trips, speak against the saloons, ,
gambling and kindred evils, hut!
works in the interest of woman
suirrage. She believes, Bhe said,
that Oregon will next November
give the ballot to the women of the
state.
Mrs. Unruh left Monday after
noon to fill an engagement at
Laidlaw.
