What Is Doing Among Homesteaders
of Rich Valley.

taker returned Sunday from the
Willamette Valley. He brought
some fine horses as far as Prineville
where they were sold nt the county
Mrs. M. L. Peck left last week
for Portland to visit her son and
other relatives and friends.
I. Zerolf is out of the valley after
a load of lumber.
A. T. Frame is nt his Bend home
for a few weeks.
Coyotes have become very bold in
this neighborhood. Last Friday
evening before dnrk they raided
Louie Miller's chicken house and
destroyed over half the fine Hock.
Little William Peck was taken ill
very suddenly last Monday but is
much improved nt present.
Wm. Fraser and Mr. Gilliam each
made a trip to Bend the past week
Louie Miller and wife and II. C.
Miller are out on a hay baling trip.
Mr. Brickey passed through
Hampton last evening with n heavy
load of lumber which he brought
from a Bend mill.

Building & Loan Association Starts off
Strong In Uend.
Messrs Burke nnd Beck returned
to Bend Sunday and have completed
plans for the local building and
loan association. It starts off
strong here, having a membership
already of 43. Several loans have
already been negotiated for mem
bers who will build homes here.
