The street grade of Bond and Green wood was by unanimous vote order ed lowered eight inches, on motion of Councilman Sellers, but a little later the action was rescinded and the gmde will remain as at present mapped. Engineer Gould was not present when the motion to lower the grade was made, and after his statement of what ditliculties would bo encountered in lowering the grade Councilman Allen moved that the previous action bo stricken from the records. The vote stood: Ayes Allen, Caldwell. Sellers. Noes Aune, Oneill. Absent, Kelly. The fire protection situation was discussed but the only action taken was to buy more hose and a cart for it, and a few more wrenches. On inquiry' of the mayor. Council man Allen reported that The Bend Co. had just ordered the hydrant twice ordered installed at Nevada and Bond streets. The resignation of C. E. Murray as night police olficer was read and accepted. He has been drinking while on duty. C. D. Brown was appointed to the vacancy and went on duty last night. RILEY CONVICTED.
