The settlors near Hampton JHtst
olllce and for 'JO miles west toward
liend, have worked lmnl to put tlie
new roml in '! trttvolinjt condi
tion, and in addition to clearing the
center of the road from wiKubriish
and all rocks, many have also clour
ed the full liO-foot roadway.
After all this work mot of the
autos from aloiiK tlie Deschutes still
follow the old road across Pringlo
Flats. Thus many of the travelers
never see the land that is being
taken and improved by the enthusi
astic homesteaders.
After leaving Mlllienns, instead
of following the new road, take the
old Silver Lake road to L. II. Had
clilV's place and from there follow
the now Henri-Hiiro road. The
road from this place, clear on
through Hampton Valley, is In
splendid condition and is also a
shorter road than by I'ringlo Flats.
