Stiles read some clever selections from "Handy Andy," Miss Nellie Jamos received hearty applause for her excellent readings and J. E. Williams, who came to Bend from Seattle in May, 1909, and filed on a homestead in section 19, 21-11, has received notice that his claim had been allowed. The land was in a forest reserve and the filing was not accepted at first. Mr. Williams has written friends here that hc.will at once begin im provements, taking up his residence on thc claim next spring. He Is a contractor in Seattle. TRIAL MERU TOMORROW. The Bend Water, Light & Power Company has placed 19 poles in Park Addition down Front Street as far as Deschutes, for its electric lighting service. While the wiring has not yet been installed, it is ex pected that many residences in that section will be served. FIFTY FOREST FIWES.
