Dunne; the last month Bend has
received more than thirty enthusia
stic "write ups" from papers thro
ughout the state praising the town
lawn contest. But how about the
local people who should be interest
ed in it. 'Most every one is fairly
willing to tell how "things should be
run," but when a splendid oppor
tunity such as this is afforded for
folks to back up a really valuable
competition, made possible through
the generosity of a local organiza
tion, and by so doing add much to
the appearance of the town, it seems
as if interest faded just as soon as
the matter at hand required some
physical exertion.
If six ieople will "get busy" on
new lawns, the Bulletin will add an
other ten dollars to the fifty dollar
prize. Wake up!

An ordinance that would prevent
bands of heep from passing through
the street of Bond, and through
one of the town's most attractive
residential sections, is an important
action that the city council could
take with universal approval. It is
both entirely unnecessary and wrong
that thousands of sheep should have
an opportunity to destroy practical
ly every bit of green grass lying in
their path through Park Addition,

of dust and make filthy the side-jprjce
