devotes his entire time to literary
publicity work for the Northern
Pacific, was here Friday on n quest
of data for this publication and was
furnished a large amount of valu
able information by Manager Saw
hill of the Commercial Club. Mr.
Wheeler is the author of the
Wonderland books of the Northern
Pacific which have attracted much
attention and of "On the Trail of
Lewis and Clark." His works arc
educative and so well written as to
moke a Btronp; appeal to the homo
Beekeror tourist, and his Central
Oreffon booklet will no doubt be of
much benefit to this undeveloped
wonderland.

An old-fashioned surprise party
was given C. M. Ciine, the Baptist
parson, and family last night by the
Baptist ladies. At the home of Mr.
and Mr. J. M. Lawrence friends
gathered and a jolly good time was
spent. Miss Edith Eastes sang
Bsvcral solos, accompanied by Miss
Eva Graves on the piano, and Miss
Iva West played a number of violin
solos. Delicious refreshments were
ssrved, and at a seasonable hour
the minister and family wended
their way home.
. On arrival there they found that
the house had been invaded during
their absence and a big supply of
good things left, ranging all the'
way from flour and coffee to checks
and pocket money. Mr. and Mrs.
Cline were completely taken by sur
prise and their hearts made glad
indeed.
