Crkscknt, May 1C John House, an aged man residing on a home stead near Davis Lake, west of Crescent, died last week of rheuma tism of the heart. On account of the snow, which is still quite deep in the Cascades, there was some difficulty in bringing the body out on a sled. It was taken to Klamath Falls for interment. The camp of the Southern Pacific has b-en established at the northern end of the Williamson River Canyon and steel has been laid into the canyon. This piece of work is counted 03 one of the two hoaviost in construction on the Natron-Klamath Falls cut-off. Work trains are now running to within about sixty miles of Crescent. Mr. Ireland, it is under-, stood, has resigned his position as; Supervisor of the Deschutos National Forest and the work of installing the telephone line is in charge at present of Ranger W. J. Nichols. As soon as the telephone is up work will begin on the Supervisor's of fices at Crescent. The Commercial Club has author-1 ized a change in the county road J entering Croscont a quarter of a I mile to the south. Permission was first secured by petition to the1 County Court. A roadway thirty, feet wide has been cleared on a line with Main street to a junction with the county road near I-aFollette's and Dry Farm Lands. Building ofAWali Stredf- ranch. Thomns, who have been visiting nt Klamath Falls, have re turned home. Eddie Snntrey lias returned from n business trip to Klamath Falls. Chns. Thomas last week began grading Main Street.
