BACK TO OLD MEXICO.
At SevetrtyHvaj OM Prospector Re
litnu to Seek Dot.
."UbcW John" Siscmore left Bend
recently to spend the winter in
Mexico at just what place be does
not know. Away back in 1857 be
and a companion were in north
era Mexico, probably in the present
Mexican state of Chihuahua, and
ran across some miners who were
"dry washing" fabulously rich
gravel. Siscmore was then direct
from Humbug creek, in Northern
California, where be bad been
taking $100 a day out of a placer.
Now. after seeincr bow irrk'ntlne
canals are aaade in thk section, be I
is eager to apply water to that rich j
Mexican placer if be can find it
and bis 75 years do not in tbe least
discourage mm.
From Bend he drove a team to
Brownsville. From there he will
go for a short visit with his daugh
ter ia Roseburg, and then he will
pass on to Mexico.
