Root returned from Shaniko yesterday with freight for several of the farmers in these parts. Kenneth Thompson, who owns a homestead ;o miles east of Bend on the High Desert, was in Tnmalo Fridsy and purchased a fine four-year old colt from the Star Ranch. A number of people from these parts were drawn ou tbe jury for tbe May term of court. Among them are G. W. Homer, Mr. Barnes, Rob Sturgeon of Laldlaw, and J. D. Wimer of Tunulo. Mr. Secly, Mr. Nelson, Mr. Sperrr and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Woolley were afternoon callers at the Geo, W. Wimer home from Seeley's camp yesterday. There is a large acreage being pot in to crop this year in tbi section as tbe spring has been a most favorable one and grasses, soch as clover and alfalfa, are growing nicely. The many young or chards are blooming and everything Is prosperous. Ascend Three Sister Peaks. Tbe Mammas, the mountain-climbing club of Fortland, have decided to make their annual expedition ot this summer to tbe Three Sisters peaks, west of Ilend.
