E. A. Baldwin of Portland, who
is one of the stockholders in the
Deschutes irrigation project, and
who has other interests in Central
Oregon, was in town Tuesday on
his way home from Bend. Mr,
Baldwin is very ynpguiuc over the
railroad situation with reference to
Central Oregon, mid believes that
this county will have a road built
in, possibly two roads, within the
next two years, lie says tie is
poiitivelhc present activity along
the Deschutes will crystahre into
actual construction work within a

Last Friday evening R. B. Mut
zig returned to Bend accompanied
by Mrs. Mutzig and their little
daughter, Kathcriuc, and also by
Mrs. Mutzig's aunt, Miss Potter, of
Washington, Perm. Miss Potter
will spend about a year here with
Mr. and Mrs. Mutzig. They had
planned to spend the winter at
Salem, but when they got there
they became discouraged with the
continual rain and decided to re
turn to Bend. Mrs. Mutzig has
been at Pittsburg, I'enn., for over
a year. ,
The DcMoss Lyric Bards, who
will give their musical entertain
ment in Bend on the :7th, arc sure
to please the public. There arc
eight high class musicians in the
company, and they have sung and
played in every large city of the
liutcd States and Canada and also
in EuroHr. They have been em
ployed at the Chicago, Omaha,
St. Louis and Lewis and Clark Ex
positions. There .should be n good
attendance at this company's en
tertainment. The Ladies' Aid of
the.M. E. church arc hehitid the
entertainment, and their share of
the proceeds will go towards pur
chasing a system of gas lights for
the church.
