Oregon, has returned from a three
month!' trip to Washington. He
was iu Prineville the first of
the week. Iu a message to
The llullctin he said the trouble
over the mail from Silver Lake
was due to n misunderstanding o
orders. The Silver Lake postmast
er had been directed not to scud
mail north Friday night at mid
night. Hy mistake he held the
mail Friday morning midnight.
All that has now been straightened
out.
Now, however, the schedule pre
viously iu force at Silver Lake has
been restored, but a change has
lwcu made at Heud. Hereafter mail
will go north from Heud Sundays
but opt Mondays. This is foe the
purpose of getting prompt despatch
for Saturday's mail, it being as
sumed that few business letters re
quiring quick service will be writ
ten on Sunday. Thevolume of Sun
day mall Is usually large but it is of
social rather than business nature.
It is understood, however, that
the daily mail service to Heud re
cently petitioned for will .soon be
inaugurated and that wc will not
be without the outgoing Monday
mail but n few weeks, at most.

O' Kane's liquor , warehouse, near
his residence on Oregon street, nnd

Mr. O Kane happened to be near
by at the time, and saw the men at
work. He had a small electric
laini) iu his nockct which he turned
on the bilrgiars, nl the same time
calling for Ids wife to bring his gun.
The thieves lost no time in getting
down nnd away. In reporting the
matter Alderman O Kane said he
thought he could identify the man.

made another examination of the
