t There is an opening

. That's a corkjug good word Leslie
Scott has introduced into the Port
land Oregoniun's vocabulary that
adverb ' 'eftsoous." Now ,if he will
kill the fellow that, pajs-cs "fore
qnsted" he can have his crown on
demand.
The nren proposed to be included
in the uuiuiaipal corporation of
Bend 'is but little, juore than the
town plat. iroui,,the southeast
corner of. the platted portion
the lines run westward to he river
taking the Kowlcc dwelling in the
city, theticc passing , dowji the west
bank of the rivjer.to.n point Abreast
of "Dad" West's, parent dwelling,
tjten east to the Wiest corner
and, taking iuittic V,ie4t, residence,
thence soutlnvardlo close.
. The aqtive demand here for labor
ers and the remoteness of this, field
from the world's beqtun paths tend
to draw characters not .in all easer?
to be desired. It behooves citircus
to be on the watch ii,r. dangerous
manifestations and to, tveqnthat law
is respected in the community. ,lfor
this purpose every tn.au, is .a tpcacc
officer. -In this connection it might
be pointed out that Bend ought to
have a place for the safe keeping! of
prisoners and the suggestion that
the county supply , steel .cages for
such an institution,) if (Bepd provides
tlicbuildiug.-ought to receive seri

Since Prineville disavows auy de

interest of its hotels add' the tangle
is all brought straight by the new
official orders, Bend .has no desire
to harlwr a grudge and drops the
matter without, impugning, any
body's motives. All's w&ll that
ends well.
