Mr. H a rry Gardner c f the Portland Odd F ellow band played a number o f solo parts in connection w ith the band selec tions and also played a very difficult cornet solo, which be followed w ith Sing Me to Sleep” ax an encore number. Mr. Gardner Is the son o f Mrs. Elisabeth Gardner o f this elty and was himself a N ew berg boy. A ll o f the soloists seemed to be in good voice and It would be difficult to say that one or the other was any the better. Hollingsworth A Son have started work on the construction o f sn addition to their present splendid fnrniture and undertaking estab lish mnt on the corner o f First and Howard streeta They are going to extend the east w all o f the building back 45 feet and thus square up the rear end o f their building and elim inating the triangular space at the rear, which was difficult to utilise. Through this addition their chapel, whleh has often proved too smalt under present conditions w ill be mors than doubled In sise and w ill accommodate 36* persons. In addi tion to the chapel on the ground floor, there w ill be a fam ily room, with an alcove for the casket; a music room, and embalming room and s slumber room.
