Prom Spokane via Wallace, Idaho,
to,Missoula, our hardest points were
Hair Pin Curve and Camel's Hump
OTOr the summit of the Bitter Boot
mountains— hills, rocks ind crags.
Miles of nothing but wild woods,
where bear, alk and deer abide. The
only species we got to sse was a
small deer which ran adtoaa the
trail. Prom Missoula we went to
Butte. Montana, via Drummond,
Deer Lodge and Anaconda. The
towns mentioned are all small. Mia-
soula and Desr Lodge are beautiful
places. On this drive we had ex­
cellent roads save a few ebooks aad
bumps, and mieeed our trail once
and drove P7 milee to get SI and
on this round-about way paid 4Sc
for gas and 70c a Quart for oil, very
common at that but glad to get it.

Yellowstone and way points. At
Twin Bridges we camped for three
days Also vtslted Virginia City,
Montana's first capital, which at ope
time had a population of SO.OOO.
This was during the Alder's Gulch
gold find. Now the population ie
only MO. Prom this place we went
via Ennis and Cameron to Hntchlas
ranch all along the Madison river.
Then via Herben's dam to West Yel­
lowstone. This dam Is fifty feet
high and S00 feet long and makes a
lake out of the river. Here we en­
countered our worst roads on ac­
count of rocks. Will write again
soon.

FAREWELL AMD GREBUMG
Last Thursday evening, upwards
of seventy-five members and friends
of tbe Baptist cbnrch, met for a so­
cial hour with onr retiring pastor.
W. H. Cox, and our visiting pastor.
O. A. Pollard, of Palo Alto, Califor­
nia.
Brother Pollard . was pastor here
three years ago. He has since that
time preached and studied In Palo
Alto and was visiting his many
friends in this church, who greeted
him with outstretched hand of good
will. He has returned to his pas­
torate in California. At the special
request of Pastor Cox he preached
for us last Sunday morning.
Brother O ok leaves August 3 for
his new hosse In Prosser, TWaab,

where he W in preach and he says,
“ tend apple crop.” His presence
there, for awhile, seemed necessary,
hence his resignation as pastor in
Newberg. The slopet« good wishes
of the church follow him, as he goes
from us and we pray that God’s
richest blessings may be upon his
future work. He has worked faith­
fully and well while with ua He
visiting pastor, 0. A. Pollard, to
meat with the retiring pastor, W . H.
Cox, and the church, where both bad
led, each doing hie part (or the wel­
fare of bis people and with, the hope
that both of them will some dap visit
us again, .we will follow them with
our prayers.
