T he Los Angeles-Yosemite (Cam p C urry) Econ
om y Run is probably the most fem ora event o f its
kind in the m otor world. E very year about the mid
dle of May, while the snow still lies deep in the
m ountain passes, from 15 to 20 cars start the stren-
ucrus 360-mile run across the interior valleys and up
the difficult m ountain roads into the Yosemite V al
ley. E very car is carefully groomed for victory, and
driven by an expert

This year the car m aking the run on the low est
consumption of fuel, a * Chevrolet driven by Dom
inick Basso, m ade the entire trip o f360 miles on 12
gallons of “Red Crown" (an average o f 30 miles to
the gallon), and a pint of Zerolene.
T he average gasoline consumption for a ll cars
participating w as phenomenally low, This furnishes
striking evidence of the continued success of this
company in m anufacturing a m otor-car fuel of the
highest grade, justifying for six successive years the
unanimous choice o f autom otive engineers eager to
establish the best possible records for their cars.
