The Daad Letter OSes has been In
existence ever since Ben Franklin
started our postal service. Even then
people addressed mall to Mr. Keeklel
Smith era, “ Atlantic Coast," and ex
pected Ben to know Just where Zeke
lived.
Perhaps they had Zeks*s address tn
letters up in the garret, maybe a chest
fo il o f ’em, but then It was easier ts
let Ben hunt Zeke. Today people are
addressing letters to John Smith, Now
York, N. Y , or Chicago, BL, thinking
Unde 8am can locate him, which Is
Jest as Incomplete as was Zaks’* ad
dress e f yore. The PoetofTlce Depart
ment aeks you ts put.the number and

BOYS' WORK OSLUHM
Last Saturday morning ■t»? a d the
first of the aerian o f boys hike#
planed for thl* spring, it taking the
form of a bicycle run to th* locks at
Lafayette. Nine boys and two lead
er* made the trip, leaving from the
public school grounds at sbout tan
In the morning. The trip I ° tn* ,YM
featured by nothing more startling
than a puncture for the accompany
ing auto. A ball gams opened tpe
day’s program and tha team cap
tained by Orval Armstrong took a
defeat from Oscar Cromwell s ball
tossera, 12-15.
Lunch consisted o f regular N t i,
hot cocoa, and hotter "hot dogs
with funny stories mixed tn to add
flavor. A lively game of guard the
flag opened up the afternoon and
ave a three to one decision to the
ag guard captained by Meade E l
liott. thanka to Bunny Streeter s
nimble lags. A round of nigger
baby was played in which the leaders
starred as targets, and then tha
bikes were boarded again for tha
homeward trip.
Thoa making tha .trip were Orval
Armstrong. Paul Carter, "Spec W -
11s, Dorrle Morris, Floyd McVey,
Glen RolUns. Oscar Cromwell, "Bun
ny’’ Streeter and Frank Brooks, w ith
Bob Shinn and Meade Elliott as
leaders. Did they have a great
time? Just ask tham.
Monday evening staged the open
ing game of the grammar school
aeries in which the Eighth A team
defeated the Sixth graders 25 to l i .
The first seven inntngs were close,
the Sixth team playing the better
game, but tn the eighth time at bat
the older boys found Frasier’s offer
ings easy and brought la some th ir
teen tallies before they wore retired.
The playing of both teams was rag
ged at times, but w ith s bit ot
coaching and strengthening either
one w ill give the other contending
teams a run for fhe championship.
Outside of the disastrous eighth in
ning, the Sixth played very good
ball and should not be discouraged
by their defeat.
The Eighth A team was made up
by Cyril Ware. Hubert Seott. How
ard Best. Claude Cummings. How
ard Woodward. Sbermniv Ellis, John
St. Germain. The Sixth h »‘ swing
ers were B. Hanville. W illiam Beede,
Horace Eldrtedge, Kenneth Braden.

71 m President o f the Standard O il Com pany (California),
author o f 6 m statement (jnotod above, is right in believing
«b a t Zerolene is the best m otor oil made. U m lubrication
eugiueen ofthis cosnpany have proved it repeatedly, by means
o f thousands o f dynamometer and road tests o f Zerolene
and competing oils.
U m reasons for Zerolene’s superiority are: First, that the
Standard O il Company (C aliforn ia) possesses resources of,
erode o il and o f manufacturing equipm ent and personnel
that are unsurpassed in the entire petroleum industry. Sec
ond, that the engineers and chrm kti o f this com pany have,1
from the beginning, been g iven carte blan dM to make fu ll
use o f these exceptional resou rces, and to spend a ll the
time and momer needed to develop a Inbricant ideally «nited
ta the needs o f the m odern internal combustion engine.
A t the P resid ent*« request, we are undertaking to tell the
Ineiorists o f the Pacific Coast the story o f Zerolene. We
«h all do this by meant o f # series o f signed ttstements in
the public press. These statements w ill set forth in plain lan-

the detailed reasons w hy Zerolene meets these require-
fneuts perfectly.
