Mr. and Mrs. Hoggard. two blind persons, who are traveling and giving a musical and literary entertainment, were greeted by a good-sited audi ence at community hall on Tuesday evening. Everyone present was de lighted with the character of the pro gram and the talent of Mr. and Mrs. Hoggard. t It started off with the white yell givens by the greens. That the greens were as enthusiastic over the victory spirit of the whites as they were over their own attendance victory waa ev idenced by the length of the yell, a jaw-breaker to commit to memory and a roof-raiser when given. The occa sion was the chicken supper given by the greens to the whites to honor the latter in their securing more mem bers for the Sunday school for a given period than did the greens Rev. Mc- Abee was geperal manager of the oc casion, ably assisted by S. S. Supt. Ward Bahringer and W. S. Allan, toastmaster. After the yell, the audi ence all Joined in singing a “ Carry on Chorus” to the tune of "There's a Long, Long Trail a Winding,” There’s a little Christian steeple Beside the highway thru our town. And it calls. Oh, Dundee people. Here’s a smile for every frow n!” When the bell rings Sunday morning. Whether weather’s dark or fair, We’ll be on our way together. For there’s always sunshine there. Then followed a prayer by the sup erintendent. Supper was then an nounced. apd such a supper! Whites and greens and guests of the evening all did their best to show apprecia tion of the efforts of the cooks. The tables were appropriately decorated in St. Patrick color and white. Ev eryone was having-a fine time when suddenly the lights went out. A short wait for explanation was re lieved by the pastor appearing with a beautiful three-tier birthday cake, bearing eighteen lighted candles. The cake was placed before Gleason John son and Rev. McAijee, in a few words of congrati^ation, expressed the sen timent of the assembly in wishing the young man many happy returns. Gleason was then, told by ¿he pastor ’that he could have bat one blow and that *all the candles remaining light ed would tell how long it would be before he. the pastor, would have an opportunity to $arn a fee in perform ing a very happy ceremony for the young guest of honor. Evidently Gleason does not intend that that happy occasion shall be long in com ing for he mustered his forces Tor a mighty effort and all of the candles went out at once. Speculation Is now in order. Daring the evening Uie following program was given: Re marks, “ A Short Course," Rev. Mc- Abee; toast, “ Our Superintendent,” Mr. Barnes; vocal duet. Misses Stev ens and Fankhauser; toast, “ Sunday School Growing Pains,” Prof. Ailor; toast. "Keep on Keeping on,” Mrs. Morecroft;'a reading, Mrs. Hollings worth. All present pronounced it one of the happiest occasions of the year.
