ous operation. Mrs. Dlmon returned
to Portland Tuesday afternoon, her
son, Chester, taking her down. She
expects to return to Newberg again
as soon as the grandson Is Improved.

A party of twenty-five persons
from this community made a trip to
Mt. Hood last Sunday. Five autos
took the party from here, leaving
Newberg Saturday morning and re­
turning home Monday morning.
Camp was made at the government
camp eight miles from the top on
Saturday night and the climb was
commenced on Sunday morning.
Twenty-one of the party started on
the climb, but only twelve of these
reached the crater and half of this
number failed to get to the top. The
Twelve who got as far as the crater
were Louis Hulit, Winifred Finne­
gan. Ed and Fred Wohlschlegel, Mr.
and Mrs. VosseTL. A. Moore, J. A.
Messinger. Mra. Louis Hulit. Mra.
McCormick, L. T. Finnegan and Ber-
neice Finnegan. The first six of
these were the ones who made the
top. The rest of the party were aa
