Some of the teachers and pupils who live out of town are spending the holidays at home On Monday December 20, Mr. Huddleston gave a lecture on the Philippine Islands. He was. until recently, a missionary in the Philip pines for about fourteen years, and presented facts and conditions re garding those islands as they really are. He told of the wonderful ad vancement that has taken place there under the rule of the United Sûtes. English is the dominant langauge in the schools, and it is also spoken by a large percentage of the general public. Modern school houses have been built to accomodate 900.000 children. Mr. and Mrs. Bland Herring had a family gathering at Christmas time, their children and grandchildren from Portland and relatives from Lafayette, as well as those in Dundee and visinity being present, twenty- eight in all. Last Wenesday evening while the young people were practicing for the Christmas exercises at the church, someone was mean enough to steal the best tire o ff of Rev. Paul Lewis’ car. Evidently they were frightened away, for they had another one partly off. Rev. Harrabelllo A.
