Mr. Clemmens is a great lover of flowers and takes pride In the care and cultivation of the many beautiful species to be found at his honte. The handsome dahlias, which border bis premises on the Hancock street side had attracted unusual attention on ac count of their size and wonder ful colors, and he had been requested to furnish a bouquet of the same for Republican headquarters at Port land. Mr. Clemmens, always gene rous In giving bouquets, agreed to comply with the request, and in tended to take the flowers to Port land today, but alas, some miscreant had seen and marked the largest and finest of the dahlias, and on Tuee^ day night carried them away, great ly to the regret o f their owner.
