DUNDEE
Mr. and Mra. R. A. 01 instead were
Saturday-Sundajr visitors in Port
land.
* Mra. W. 8. Allan haa returned
from a sojourn at Hood River. She
la much Improved in health after a
month of the Invigorating breezes
from Mt. Hood.
Mra. Wm. Wilson and Mra. Roe
Robison, having birthdays only one
day apart, celebrated with a picnic
dinner at the Allan Orove on Sun­
day. Besides the Wilson and Robl-
sbn families. Mr. and Mrs. Clark
Noble, Mr. and Mrs. Booth and
family and A. Hawley, o f Newberg,
enjoyed the neighborly gathering.
A ll Dundee will be glad to know
that Fred Hutchinson’s wonderful
constitution is battling for his re­
covery with conditions a little more
favorable each day. Fred was taken
to Portland to the Good Samaritan
hospital the middle o f the week for
an X-ray examination and where
sqme of the best specialists in the
state are doing all In their power to
assist him back to health. Fred is
a general favorite in Dundee and
the hopes and prayers o f the whole
community are with him for hia re­
covery.

Twice this week John A. Work­
man haa brought out friends and
relatives from Portland to^ enjoy a
day at Sylvanus Springs Farm. Mrs.
Jean Hattan. Mrs. O. Ward and
Mrs. H. F. Huger were the Friday
guests and Mrs. Ora Workman, Mra.
Beulah 8peelinan and Mrs. A. Bs
Stone comprised the Monday com-i
pany.
Both parties made a short
call at Otterbrook to see the won­
derful grape vine and the Inaple
tree. One of the visitors remarked:
“ It is worth the trip from Portland
Just to see that tree."
Rev. A. C. Grier, the Misses
Gladys and Joyce Grier, and Miap
Maud Bullock, of Spokane, who
have been touring the coast by auto,
spent Friday night at Otterbrook,
lM vin g for Portiand Saturday after-
noon, where Mr. Grier had several
engagements to speak befbre con­
tinuing his
missionary
Journey
northward.
On Sunday afterntoon
Mr. Grier gave the address at the
- dedication of the Reaiixatton Song
Book at the special services in the
aifditortum of the Lincoln High
school in Portland.

CHEHALEM CENTER
Frank Remmillard was home from
Portland Sunday for a visit.
Burbln Graves returned home last
Tuesday from Wieser, Idaho.
Mr. and Mrs. John Graves and
daughters motored to Portland the
first of the week In that new Ford.
The berry season is over and Mr.
Graves and others report very satis­
factory results from their crops. The
grain harvest is now in progress.
Rev. L. Clarkson Hlnshaw, Evan­
gelistic Superintendent of Oregon
Yearly Meeting, is holding a revival
meeting at the church, and w lirco n ­
tinue until August 15th. Everyone
is cordially invited to attend these
meetings. Evening services through­
out the week at 8 o'clock.
The ladies of the W. C. T. U. meet
with Mrs. Edith Walton this Wednes-
'. day. Next Thursday, August 19th,
the W. C. T. U. convention meets at
the school house in an all day meet­
ing. The ladies of ChehaLem Center
will serve one of their old-time pic­
nic dinners. Let all the ladies do
Stielr best to entertain the McMinn­
ville. Newberg, Amity, Belleview
visitors.
Mrs. Marie Tangen returned home
from Portland. Friday, and on her
arrival she was happily surprised by
finding her brother from Seattle,
Mr. Andrew Kirkebo, who came for
a visit. He had not been out this
way for seven years. He returned
home Monday.
Mrs. Tangen and
daughters. Misses Elsie and Anna,
accompanied him to Portland. Mrs.
Tangen’s nephew, Bernard Kirkebo,
from Tacoma, came Monday for a
visit.
