The Dundee Woman’s Club had one of its most delightful meetings on Thursday last. Mrs. Powell, the hostess, had decorated the library appropriately for the occasidb and also had arranged a valentine con­ test which was enjoyed after the regular: program, A short business meeting closed with the roll call to which every member responded either with a current event, a quo­ tation, a poem, or a joke. The reg­ ular program opened with a reading of extracts from "Out of Many. One,” from the Woman's Home Companion for February, by Mrs. Greer. A group of readings, “ The Victor!*, Cross,” “ The Garden,” and “ Do It,” by Miss Helen M. Hatch were great­ ly enjoyed. A game arranged from Df. Frank Crane’s article, “ How Much Do You Know?” gave much amusement and revealed the most unexpected traits of readings for In­ stance. when one of the most dig­ nified and serious members o f the club was able to tell about Jack Dempsey and* when all the house­ keepers were stumped to tell exactly what part of the beef a porterhouse i steak comes from. The news of his death came as a. great shock to Mrs. Kincaid, who had been expecting him for the past two weeks to visit her at ber nome in Sprigbnrook.
