Add to this condition the breakdown la trans pora tatioa. prolong It for ten or fif teen years and what is tho result? The population must go booh to tho level of two hundred years ago, to the primitiva parted before large- ecale industry and steam transporta tion made possible the modern sub division of labor with Its tremen dously inert seed output. A similar proosas is now going on In Germany. It will sweep all over the world wherever the Bolshevik theory is put into practice. Every where production will decrease at least forty par cent under Bolshe vism. Sines the world must have a 100-per cent productkm, it follows that under Bolahevl —1 halt the pop ulation of the Industrial conn trise must be wiped out. Everybody will try to reetet this wlplag-out process. The weakest will go first; the strongest will fight tooth and nail against extinction. As In Ruaste, a savage war for mere existence will eoauaeaou, civilization w ill revert hade to feudal times when the weak er ones beoome voluntary slaves of the stronger men In order to pre serve their miserable Uvea. In self- defense society must not hesitate one second to ose machine guns and hand grenades against any factoin attempting through violence to re produce Rumian conditions in the United States. But an ounce of friendly prevention is better than a ton of hand grenades. Deep-seated discontent exists. Unrest pervades broad strata of the workers It is strictly up to the men In control of industry and finance speedily to de vise ways and means to reduce this discontent. More especially is It necessary right now and without a minute’s delay so to re-arrange things that every man willing and able to work has a chance to earn s living for himself and family every day in the year. Nothing breeds greater and more righteous fury than unemployment, the eight of vacant houses, of stores stocked with nil the good things while the indi vidual la denied a chance to ex change his labor for the things hla family needs. Get down to fundamentals, you gentlemen who ride in limousines. W rget foreign trade for a few days and turn your attention upon the human problem of the man who a family to support and can’t find work. Solve • his problem first, thereby re-inforcing the foundation upon which this republic and your prosperity are built.— From the April Sunset. Of six candidates three were responsible to the public, three to the radical section of organized labor. The three laborltes promised in the official organ of their party to follow the voice of that party, to take their opinions from and rest their official acts upon Its decisions. The candidates responsible to the public were elected. As Mayor Ole Hanson puts it. ’ ’Seattle’s cltisens by their ballot repudiated attempts to establish Soviet authority in Se attle.” He draws from the election the conclusion that “ every true American citlsen will repudiate preaching of class hatred If given the opportunity.” Without doubt. Moreover, organ ized labor has made Itself powerful and respected in the United States byt abstaining from class politics. The result of the Seattls election is more than a victory of loyalty and order. It is s victory for the intelligent and conservative major ity of organised labor.— Manufac turer. ■ . Eight hours per day amounts to 122 days, which, taken from 366 days, leaves 243 days. Eight hoars leisure per day amounts to 122 days, which, taken from 243, leaves 121 days.
