WAR PROPHECY COMES TRUE
AIRPLANE ROUTE TO SWEDEN
Trelieborg and Sassnitz to Be the Ter
mini of the Proposed Line Con- 1 ;
nectmg With Germany.
» ___
The following bulletin ou Trelieborg
and Sassnitz. the termini of the pro
posed Swedish-German airplane route,
which assume* special significance In
the light of recent developments in
the diplomatic relations between Ger
many and Sweden, lias l*eeu Issued by
National Geographic society.
Between Trellelmrg. the most south
erly town in the Kingdom of Sweden,
and Sa.**nitx. a summer resort on the
northeastern shore o f the Gertnau
Island of Kugen. express steamers in
times of peace make regulur trips
a e r o « this a^rmToF’tHe'BaitiF'in four
hours. This is the chief water link in
the IM-hour express service between
Stockholm and Berlin. Neither town
would be of any Importance were it not
for the fact that they are the -tenni
of this steamer service.
Trelieborg la a quaint old town
some 10.000 inhabitants, lying 2d miles
southeast of Malmo, capital of Skane,
teh most populous province in all Swe
den. It is only IB miles from Malmo
to the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
Sassnitz is one of several popular
•reside resorts on the Island of Rugen.
the largest lnsnlnr possession of Ger
many. haring an area about equal to
that of Cape Cod. Only about 2,500
people make Sassnitz their permanent
home, but during the bathing season in
times of "peace the village is visited
annually by more than 20,000 pleasure
seeders.
The water trip from Trelieborg to
Sassnitx is 00 miles. Thus the rail-
and-steuiner distance between Stock
holm and Berlin is 415 miles.

“ ‘So do I,' said my British acquaint

I was seated beside oue of these old-

highly ornate invective between the

“ ‘But I « u s mistaken. There was
more and worse to couie. When the
