They went only as far as Portland, however, and decided to wait until the spring weather begins, as the eastern trains are nearly all snow bound. It is rather late to mention but there were so many Christmas festivities that here goes: First the teacher and scholars gave an excellent Christmas program at the schoolbouse on Saturday evening, Chehalem Center doing its share also on that night in buying Red Cross buttons. On Snndav night the Sunday School had a Christmas tree with nice program and treats for all pres­ ent. On Christmas Eve there were Christmas trees and gath­ erings at various homes through­ out the neighborhood. Christ­ mas morning Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Youngs invited quite a number of their immediate neighborhood children to their home where they had a magnificent tree la­ den with pretty things, and can­ dy and goodies for all.
