A very pleasant surprise await-
ted the ladies o f the local W. R.
C. at their regular session on
Thursday, Sept 27.
Among their number was Mrs.
Mary Douglas who has been an
active and useful member for
many years and who was about
to bid them adieu as she was
going east for a year or two.
A s the regular routine was
hastened, all were wondering
ered promptly by an ihvitation
from the G . A . R . members for
all to report at the dining-hall
adjoining, and on ariving there
found the tables loaded with
eats, and the G. A. R. members
ready to serve a bountiful and
delicious banquet for all especial
ly as a farewell to Mrs. Douglas.
The tables were beautifully
decorated with flags and flowers
and a good social and enjoyable
time spent when everyone talked
gossiped and ate to their heart’ s
