DAY COMING
T o the E d ito r
I note the compliment (? ) you
p ay to Ohio in y o u r issue o f last
week. N o w B rother W ood w ard ,
w e have ceased to be Buckeyes
and H o o sk rs and become loyal
Oregonians, therefore it seems to
me to be an nnnecessary.thing
to condemn the native state o f
o u r neighbors.
Even though
the term ‘Buckeye’’ and “ H oo-
•ier” were, and perhaps are, used
a s w o rd s o f reproach in times
past, it appears time to forget
the fact. As to mossbackism, I
refuse to believe Ohio deserving
o f the name, aw she beat Indiana
by tw o years in ja ilin g crooked
pofiticians-r-and I think they
were of the same party, namely
go o d republicans. I beg yon to
take into consideration the fact
o f the immense distillery interests
o f the state, the consistent re
publican m ajority thereof, and
the fact th at the old Buckeye
stade haul been busily engaged in
providin g presidential tim ber
fo r the p arty fo r so many years
th at the has neglected to take
much interest in anything else.
Just as soon a » the wom en of
the state w ake up, the citizens
become dem ocrats, and adl the
crooked politicians are jailed,
Ohio w ill be d ry as the A risons
