DIAZ AND TAFT EXCHANGE NOTES President of Mexico Suggests Chingo in Nictrtguan Policy. WASHINGTON.—The attitude of the Mexican government toward the Madri« cause in Nicaragua was made plainer, when correspondence which recently passed between President Dias and President Taft on the sub ject became public. President Dias wrote President Taft, as the result o f the circulation of a telegram Madris sent to Central Amer ican governments protesting against the attitude o f the United States In Nicaragua. “ If these facts are exact in all de tails," said President Dial, after refer ring to Madris' protest, “ I permit my self in the most friendly spirit, to rec ommend most earnestly to your ex cellency that you reconsider those in structions of which Nicaragua com plains to the epd of permitting the government of Madris within a pru dently brief period, to aocompllsh that complete pacification which Is of fered.“ Information Erroneous, Says T a ft Mr. Taft, In reply, said: "I eatqem your excellency’s friendly interest In the relation of the United States with Nicaragua. As your ex cellency will have surmised, the tele gram which Dr. Madris ordered sent to you, as v eil as telegrams sent to other governments In which the con tinuation of the struggle in Nicaragua I? attributed to the policy of the United States, has evidently been transmitted under erroneous informa tion with respect to the actual facts snd the principles of international law applicable to the case."
