On Monday evening J. L. Ha
worths gave a real house warm
ing in their nice new home near
Springbrook, where the married
people ot the community, with a
few others o f eligible age, enjoyed
a strong phono-program.
Messrs. C. E. Newhouse, Will
Shires, H. E. Newlin, and mine
host with their instruments oh
holiday behavior, and a selection
o f records from the violin quick
step to Old Hundred, with Uncle
Josh and the coon on the side fur
nished music and entertainment
galore.
Nuts,candy and big redapples,
conversation and the pleasures
o f the evening were shared by all.
Before the people dispersed a
short prayer service led by the
host was engaged in by the merry-
guests, and on adjournment the
many expressions o f good cheer
attested the sentiment ot all that
the evening had been greatly en
joyed.
With more such gatherings the
tedium and hum-drum o f country
life, of which we hear so much,
would be reduced to the minimum
and many an opportunity made
for a kind word or a good deed
to hearts that are longing for
more fellowship.
Some of these you can not reach
in the churCh for you can neither
coax nor drive them thither, but
with them you can and ought to
come in closer touch and sym
pathy in the social evening at the
country home.
