Sherman Seely, who recently
resigned his position as assistant
cashier ot the First National
Bank, went to his home at Wil-
sonville today to take up the
white man’s burden on the old
home farm. He will remember
that Newberg pays the highest
market price for butter and eggs
and all farm truck and the- >latch
string will always be out to him.
Columbus Mackie, a we l l
known resident ol the communi
ty, who had long been in poor
health, died at his home justeast
of Newberg on Wednesday after
noon at 4:30. In his death he
leaves a wife and one daughter.
Miss Elsie Mackie. Funeral ser
vices will be held at the home on
Friday morning at 10 o ’clock.
The latest railroad talk, which
seems to be well founded, is that
a Newberg passenger train is to
be put on the run between here
ana Portland. It will probably
leave here at six o ’clock in the
morning and return about noon.
And in the afternoon leave New-
l)crg probably at one o ’clock and
return late in the evening. The
passenger crews are figunng on
who shall have the new run and
it is stated that the train will be
ut into service at an early day.
Ctter service always stimulates
travel and with the new schedule
Newberg will be pretty well fixed
for train service to and from the
city.
